The main purpose of the Institut Forhom, an international training centre, is to provide in-service training of administrative and private company executives, local authority managers, programme or project managers, NGO members, consultants and other development stakeholders.
Since its creation, the Institut Forhom has trained more than 3,000 people.
Standard training sessions
More than thirty sessions, ranging from 2 to 5 weeks in length, are organised yearly in our centre in La Rochelle (France) and about ten sessions of 2 to 3 weeks are organised in Africa. The standard training sessions focus on various subjects: development strategy, decentralisation and developing cities, rural development, management, human resource management, project management, information and communication.
Hundreds of participants are trained each year through the Institut Forhom: educational face-to-face sessions, sharing experience, case studies, visits and using computer tools enabling the trainees to discover and acquire analysis and action tools, guaranteeing greater efficiency in the work place.
Training course design
The Institut Forhom also provides its support in the following tasks:
- developing training modules, concerning the educational content and the educational support documents, selection and training of trainers;
- identifying training needs and setting up training plans;
- assisting in the creation and management of training centres: educational aspects, production systems, status, management, commercial policy, and quality processes.
“A la carte” training sessions
Thanks to its expertise in organising training sessions and its large network of public and private partner organisations and independent experts, the Institut Forhom can quickly organise “tailor-made” training sessions for a wide variety of subjects.
The trainers are specialists and, mostly have considerable knowledge of the particular needs of the trainees’ countries of origin.
